Searching for a Soulmate

Share

Relationships are complicated.

This modern era of Facebook and Instagram, texting, sexting and “friends with benefits” has made the whole relationship thing even more complicated.
And it’s even worse for the few of us that have remained romantics at heart. We believe in love at first sight, the perfect match and soulmates. And today, as the lines between sex, love, causal and committed have never been blurrier, one can’t help but wonder…how do I know if I found my soulmate?
Well, first off, you just know. It could be a voice in your head, a skip of a heartbeat or even something tossing and turning is your gut, when you’ve found your soulmate, you’ll know it. But if you don’t want to take my word for it, here are a few signs that should help you while you’re searching for your soulmate…

Nobody else gets you…

You and your significant other are on the same page, but it seems that the rest of the world isn’t even in the same book. Your private jokes, public affection and ability to communicate with nothing but facial expressions are both your blessing and your curse. On one hand, congrats, you’ve found your soulmate! On the other hand, we hate you…and yes, it’s because we’re jealous and slightly nauseated.

You care so much, you’ve stopped caring…
Another sign that you found your soulmate is if you care about your partner so much, that you’ve stopped caring at all. Confused? So was I, at first. But if you stop caring about how you look in front of each other. If you don’t have a problem coming home all sweaty and stinky from the gym. If you are open and secure enough to spend the night in her bathroom because of some bad take-away. If you stop caring about what he thinks or how she looks, it’s a sign that your soul has found its one and only.

Your emotions are in sync…

Another important sign to help you find that special soulmate is the emotional connection. You understand each other’s feelings, no words necessary. When she is sad, you feel for her. When he is happy, it brings a smile to your face. When you’re having a bad day, she knows exactly how to cheer you up. When it’s that time of the month and her emotions are all over the place, you are the emotional rock that grounds her.

Fall for the faults…
It’s important to know why you love your significant other. If you can’t think of any reasons, then you probably shouldn’t be together. If you can run through a list of good traits and characteristics that you love about them, it’s a start. If you love the negative traits and “bad qualities” of your partner, now we’re talking. Loving another’s faults is a major sign of soul alignment and a perfect match.

Completion makes perfection…

And last, but not least…. completion is perfection. The search for soulmate is not an easy one, and there can be many bumps along the way. Heck, you may even have a hiccup or two with your loved one before even realizing that they’re your soulmate. A soulmate relationship isn’t necessarily easy, sometimes it’s hard work. However, soulmates complete each other, make each other strive to better themselves and become the perfect version of one’s self. When two people come together and complete each other, fully, they become perfect. Reach perfection and you’ve found your soulmate.

Now that the search is over, and you’re convinced that you’ve got yourself a soulmate, hold on and never let go…
